BIOGRAPHY

Welcome to my page! I am a New York City-based pianist and composer.

Here you'll find my recordings, compositions, résumé, and contact info. I am available for concerts, auditions, lessons, recordings, and other performances!

A native of France, Luka Marinkovic is a pianist, composer, and arranger based in New York City, active in classical performance, opera, and musical theatre. He studied composition and piano at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music most recently with Norman Krieger, Claude Baker, and Sven-David Sandström. He has studied at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, the IRCAM electronic music center in Paris, France, and performed in masterclasses with pianists Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Richard Goode, and Lars Vogt.

Luka currently works as collaborative pianist for the opera department at the Mannes School of Music. He served as Music Director for the Gateway Playhouse's 2024 production of Fiddler on the Roof in Bellport, NY, and previously performed aboard the MS Zaandam ship (Holland America Line) in a piano-cello duo, before being invited to perform solo piano recitals as Guest Entertainer. Luka served as the Associate Music Director of the 2022 national double tour of An American in Paris and South Pacific, performing in 30 states across the US.

 

He additionally served as music director for the IU University Players theatre company and principal pianist for the Grammy-nominated IU Singing Hoosiers. He placed second in the nation in the 2015 MTNA Senior Composition Competition, and gave a TEDxYouth presentation entitled Putting the "Music" Back into "Classical Music", exploring the misconceptions surrounding classical music. Luka has also  worked as a French-teaching musician with Bilingual Birdies, a bilingual music and language program in New York City.

Outside of music, his interests include French language services, having translated owner's manuals for Colibus electric vehicles; and physics research, having co-authored a paper on non-Newtonian liquids in the Physical Review E journal.
